Originally they used to be brass oilway plugs (2K1345) fitted to engines and good engine tuners would remove them for cleaning sludge but these later cup type were introduced about 1985 and are much easier to remove and replace. 4 per engine--4 ON LARGE BORE AND 2 ON SMALL BORE
