Starter gear There is no need to replace the whole starter if you've merely damaged the bendix gear! You can replace the gear with a little persistence and ingenuity.
The new starters supplied on the market are all supplied with a 10 tooth bendix, these have been linked with ring gear damage, so a correct 9 tooth bendix may be worth the extra bit.
